Bread Rolls

Ingredients

  • 250 ml tepid water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 520 g strong white flour
  • 2½ tsp. instant yeast

Topping

  • 1 tbsp. butter, melted

Directions

  1. Place ingredients in loaf pan in order listed.
  2. Set programme to “leaven”.
  3. When finished, remove dough from pan, line baking tray with baking paper and head oven to 180°C
  4. Divide into 8 pieces and shape into balls. Place on baking tray with some room for them to expand.
  5. Place baking tray in plastic bag and leave to rise until doubled in size - about 30-40 minutes.
  6. Brush with the melted butter and bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.

Best eaten warm…

They don’t keep too long; a day or so in a sealed container before they start getting a bit firm. They do freeze well though.
